How to hook up the wireless internet

I am currently trying to hook up my wireless internet and having trouble putting in my security code for my wireless router. My security code has a | and I can't seem to find this key on the keypad in the internet setup. Am I missing a key on the keyboard? Am I SOL? Any input or recomendations would be greatly appreciated.
