Former Midway license at the end of the 90’, Ready 2 Rumble is now part of the Atari great family; always ready to revive the career of glory. To this end, the French publisher has decided to entrust the development of the game to another studio: AKI Corporation, used in this connection to sports games. The latter now has a double task: to make up Ready 2 Rumble in the ring and make it sure winner.

To meet the challenge, AKI Corporation has decided to choose the Wii as a console of choice. With its current bagout and especially its high popularity among a certain age group of players, the white lady by Nintendo seems perfect to support the headlines. And then, with the help of the success of Wii Sports and the boxing demo, everything seems to agree that the public will respond to this. Of course, not to distort the original concept, the designers took the wise decision to transplant the ingredients of previous episodes, starting with a list of boxers as mad as crazy. There are 18 in total and each is more or less a caricature of a showbiz personality. Kaizer Kong and his cold eyes like those of Arnold Schwarzenegger while Dewie Streudel does not hide his kinship with a certain David Hasselhoff. The humor in Ready 2 Rumble Revolution is everywhere, which does not displease fans of the first hour.

However, what is likely to irritate is the playability of the title. As it is on the Wii, controls take place using the Wiimote and Nunchuk. Like the Nintendo Wii boxing, simply use the two appendices as real boxing gloves. Immersion at all costs, it is the leitmotif that Nintendo fully intends to make us sweat. This is the case with Ready 2 Rumble Revolution and in high doses because the movements are not recognized properly. Direct, hook, uppercut, ducks and other small steps on the side, all movements of boxing are represented in the game, but at no time it will be possible to reproduce an identical or with an absolute time of latency. This is the main defect of Ready 2 Rumble Revolution, what is more fatal, since it is quite difficult to carry out attacks in the game, blamed poor recognition of movements in space. In doubt and in good professional, it tends to move the tutorial to check if the problem does not occur the way we make use of two joysticks. But after a quick passage through the coaching box, but also in the mini-games, you realize quickly that the developers have simply missed the boat. Of course, doing anything, we can perform some moves, but do not swing attacks you have planned in advance, here is the luck factor comes into the game more seriously, Ready 2 Rumble Revolution cannot behave as a credible game with a grip that despicable. And it is particularly unfortunate that the game offers a proper realisation, even if we would have liked a little more madness in the decor and a crowd that looks more like a true public. Whatever happens, this is not the year that the Ready 2 Rumble license will be able to make a new name.

Ready 2 Rumble Revolution had all the cards to appeal to its audience, and the Wii as well. Designed with an acceptable humor everywhere and many game modes, the title by Atari and AKI Corporation seemed ready to climb into the ring. But then, the playability and execrable bad recognition movements finally complete the game that can only count on his behalf to try to exist in a competitive market. But as can be strongly discourages you from approaching, Ready 2 Rumble Revolution remain forever trapped in the locker room. It is perhaps time to hang up the gloves once for good.
